How To Sell Your Music in Facebook?

10 August 2011

What's New » Interviews » THIS SPRING OF DEATH'S »INDONESIA - BAND

1. When you see a band's name, what can you understand about it … and how does that explain yours? The name of band itself could impact in the all aspect, for example if the name of a band is Slayer, somehow it makes us 'wow' when we hear that name because it sounds scary enough hahaha. The name of band itself has their own meaning and describes the style of the music itself.

As the name of our band is This Spring of Death it came from Tommy's idea about the beautiful scenery of spring when everyone's happy and overjoyed but it turns to a scene of a horrible massive genocide which is the depiction of the doom's day. Well, somehow our band's name isn't too scary though, but when you're trying to listen to our music, you could figure out the effect of impression on the harmony itself, a little bit arrogant though, hee-hee, but we try to include the element of 'wow' on our song.”

2. Lyrically, what do you guys generally write about?
The lyrics of the EP that we've been doing is about the fact of today's reality, which leads us to things about divine stuff. We write about the God's betrayers, heretics, and stuff like that. It is Tommy who has been writing the lyrics of our song. Even though it is mainly about the sensitive stuff, I guess that our songs have should have a positive impact.

Wish us luck for our EP, aye!”

3. If you had to work with someone you admire, who would it be and why?
Eet Syahrani from EDANE. We think, he is the musician that has the full totality and loyalty for the sake of music. Even though he has his own idealism, he is smart in making music between his idealism and based of market's genre. His skill? Don't try to doubt it, he is cool and we are inspired by him.”
4. What is your favourite album of all time?
It aint easy to answer it, but we think the best album of all is Metallica's 1991 and also Slayer South of Heaven 1989. They are cool !

5. Is there an element of glamour surrounding the songwriter of the band …and does that allow him to dictate the band somewhat? And who is that guy in this band?
Hmm... it has to be our songwriter, who is also our vocalist, Tommy and also helped by Aip (guitarist) and Boby. (drummer).  We have our own influence here but we have also our own fans too hahaha. Lyrically, it goes for Tommy, he is the man. For song material and the composition itself, it is Aip who's in charge but also helped by Tommy and Bob. Here, we don't force our words to each other but we're kinda err...if we can say, we dictate each other in a good way, attitude-wise, the stage performance, music composition, market strategy, and for our band's benefit. So, if there's something that makes our band looks bad, we try to solve it by talking about it together and by joking hahaha. We look like we are fooling around all day long but it is a good chemistry inside our band.  Rarely do we get on each other's nerves in this band.

INDONESIA - BAND

"Looking For?" was formerly known as eightysixyears

1. What is it that music offers that other art forms can't?
Music can make you sad, happy, and just pumped in an instance? I don't think a painting, a sculpture, or even a movie would be able to do that. Music can cheer you up when you are having an awful day, inspire you to do something, help prepare you for a big game. The amazing thing is that it is so simple, all you need are your ears to be filled with emotions.

2. What is your favourite album of all time?
Our own album, called "Sang Idola" released on 2004
3. To you, how important is the sense of rhyme when writing lyrics?
Hmmm... same question again with other musicians. Well, we agree with Angie Lym's opinion. She said, "It really depends on what kinda music you're writing." ;p
p.s Angie Lym: Salam Cenat-Cenut untuk Angie Lym, aku cinta kamu hehe

4. Who are your personal songwriting heroes?
We don't have any songwriting heroes.
5. Would you choose to satisfy your own artistic integrity before you try to please your fans? Why and how?
We prefer to just let it flow, and never change the dose on your own.

KL Music fest performers

House of Five

Young and talented. The two most important chemistry that makes House of Five stand out in the music industy. Consisting of five siblings from Seremban, they write and compose songs all by themselves!

They are Syazmin, 21 (Vocals), Aizat Ikhwan, 19 (Violin & Strings), Azran Irsyad, 16 (Electric & Nylon Guitars), Syazrin, 14 (Vocals & Percussions), and Azriq Anwar, 11 (Drums & Percussions).

With their own unique contemporary pop styled songs, two of their first singles, “Kenapa” and “Rahsia” received plenty of air time on the radio. Both songs were composed by Syazmin with the help of her siblings, with heavy influence from a famous Irish group, The Corrs.

With so much talent at such a tender age, House of Five is definitely a band to be reckon with!

Once Upon A time There Was A Sausage Named Bob

Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob was formed on 25th November 2009 and consists of five members. The band’s line up includes female vocalist Esty Richards, Jared Lee and his brother Lee Wei Chen on guitar and bass respectively, followed by Anthony Lee on lead guitar and JC Lam on drums.

The band was formed from their passion to create music. Very much like the band’s name, their music is widely influenced by the petty, random, daily incidents revolving around their lives giving their songs and material a very “easy-to-relate-to” approach for audiences. The band is well known for their energy and enthusiasm on stage and the great fun they bring to their live performances.

Instake

Pure 90's rock/alternative is the main ingredients for Instake's hard and heavy driven performances. Each songs are well brewed to satisfaction!

Started in 2001 at the small town of Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Instake was formed through friendship. Original line-ups were Khairil on guitar/vocals, Syukht on bass and Naz on drums. Self managed, Instake had released a demo titled "Smile - After Fever Demo" in 2002 and had played at various venues in the scene back then.

A small hiccup in 2004, Instake was put on hold due to work requirements. Now based in Kuala Lumpur, Instake is reborn again with a powerful yet humble and down to earth faces. A single was released in 2009 titled "Indecisive" and one of the songs in the single was aired on Traxx.fm and i-amtv Radio Hour in the Philippines.

Since 2009, Instake had been active at gigs and events. Their lust for music made them deliver each song with raw power and energy at every gigs they played. This is what separates Instake from other bands and performers in Malaysia.

Azfar Allias

Singer, songwriter, using Azfar Allias as the stage name, was born on the 30th October 1987 in Kuala Lumpur. A graduate in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, UTeM (2005-2008), have embark on the interest in music since high school. In 2002, he co-founded his first band called F.A.D.E as a guitarist, while he was a vocalist for a funky-oldies band called Cherry Berry and also a rhythmist and vocalist for a reggae band called The Snails. In 2005, F.A.D.E. disbanded as all the members was furthering their studies as the cause while Cherry Berry went on hiatus.

In 2006, Azfar was invited to sing for a post-rock band, Klaronika. His involvement with Klaronika played a big role in developing his flair for haunting melodies and lyrics. Early
2008, friends urged him to initiate a solo project after listening to his debut song (Impressi). To date, he have numbers completed songs, lyrics, melodies, and arrangements in progress. All these involvements had led him to the beginning of his music career, with hopes that his music can be shared.

Tashya’s Ink

Tashya’s Ink is a 4 piece band formed in 2008 and based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The band currently consists of Tashya Basir on vocals and rhythm guitar, Iriz Iziad Abdullah on lead guitar, Zarul Ikhwan on bass and Syarizwan Abdullah on drums.

The band played a significant number of shows during 2009 with the pinnacle was during the Global Battle of The Band which was held in October till November. The band managed to reach the National Finals, being one of the top 12 bands in Malaysia.

In December 2010, Tashya's Ink represented Malaysia to Maldives to perform for the Maldives Breakout Festival after winning the Malaysia Breakout Showcase in November 2010. The festival featured many bands from Maldives and also bands from the UK like Steranko, Endeavours and Lecarla. Tashya's Ink followed in the footsteps of Bunkface who were the winners of last year's Malaysia Breakout Showcase in 2009. If all goes well, mid-2011 Tashya's Ink will be flying off to the UK for some shows.

Tashya’s Ink has recently finished recording their first 6 song EP and will be releasing 2 singles soon, an English number called ‘HU’ and a Malay one by the name of ‘Yang Ku Mahu’. Keep your ears tuned ! Expect the EP to be sold somewhere in early 2011.

Tashya's Ink play a mixture of sounds from the elements of rock, folk and alternative. Influences that span the music spectrum, from KT Tunstall to Alter Bridge to The Temper Trap can be heard in their sound.

What's New » Interviews » Danger Ranger- INDONESIA - BAND

1. When you see a band's name, what can you understand about it … and how does that explain yours?
A band's name is the first impression that people get before they listen to the band's songs. It describes a band's image
and so that is ours, it means nothing special but we like to make catchy and good rhyme for a band name so that people can remember our band's name easily.

2. Lyrically, what do you guys generally write about?
Mostly our music lyrics revolves around telling people about love, dreams, hopes, and struggles.People like to talk about their daily activities regarding those aspects. We hope that those who listen to our music can relate themselves to the lyrics.

3. If you had to work with someone you admire, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson, because he really inspired us to inspire people.

4. What is your favourite album of all time?
Our own mini-album, called "Party Animal" is our favorite album of all time. You should buy it! :D

5. Is there an element of glamour surrounding the songwriter of the band …
and does that allow him to dictate the band somewhat? And who is that guy in this band?
No there's not. We write our music together as a band, based on our experiences. It's kind of teamwork because we work as a team.
